Birthday Fleet 2019

2019.03.29

It's a simple premise, really. I, Qymm, would make everyone fly logi.

After getting jebaited by cphinx with the promise of killing goons, a serious business fleet was redirected to form up under me. I immediately got tons of pilots. I gave fleet 30 minutes to do some critical thinking; how were they going to either:

- Fit remote reps to a DPS hull.
- Fit weapons to a Logi hull.

At 0245, we undocked with a 80~ member menagerie. A clusterfuck. A circus. DPS Exequrors, a Porpoise, a logi Hyperion, a lot of Ospreys (not a lot of DPS), a lot of Dominix (maybe some reps). A lot of fireworks. It was everything I'd ever dreamed.

In certain channels, I was hearing about enemy fleets moving against us, though I was determined. No one was gonna ruin MY birthday fleet. A bomber fleet attempted to tickbomb us on both the Oijanen gate and FORT perch. No dice. After a quick discussion about where we were going once we left through Oij, I set our first desto to Amamake. Fairly uneventful trip, with a couple of bombers following us through lowsec for god knows what reason. We briefly flashmobbed Amamake outposts and owned the system for a few minutes. An Augoror tackled a Crow. What a world.

Then 40 Goons flying Nagas came into system. They'd been chasing, and they were blocking us in. Friends came into comms trying to help us. Spies came into comms to make fun and track our movements.

We warped off to go the long way around Amamake, but when someone joked about it, we actually turned around and juked them, crosswarping them back into Amamake and running for it. A buttclenching move what with logi-fit battleships in tow.

We began running to high-sec. On the entry into Choonka, we took out two or three ships as they warped off, including tackling a Basi and letting faction police do the rest of the work.

Having managed to get in front of us, they were now blocking our path into Provi. Sitting at their optimals on the in-gate, we were at a standstill. Salt in local, PMs back and forth within command. We were a bit dejected, so I called for bio and let people tether up on a freeport.

I checked our fleet comp. Lo and behold, we had MartialBob in a Bifrost. The plan was to jump in, approach gate, and allow Martial to boosh us off of gate to safety. Jumping in though, empty grid. They'd set up on the outgate, with bubbles. Morathia attempted to get us a perch on the gate, but more bubbles came up. Our gate was blocked. They were at their optimals on us.

I popped probes and decided to fight. I gave the order to burn in, even though they were 100km off... we started taking fire, and then Martial landed on grid. We rushed to establish watch list, to anchor. Then, the boosh put us within 10km of them and we went to work. What followed was a fight that had us trading EVEN with the goon Naga fleet and sending them running. EVEN. In the shittiest fits possible. Landing at zero on them and grabbing parts of their fleet over and over as they kept trying to return to optimals.

As they left, we continued onto 9UY to bash an Ansiblex and get our largest hulls DD'd by a Keepstar. Our fleet split in half, between folks who had run out of steam, and those who wanted to thunderdome to the death on the Keepstar grid.

All in all an amazing time, and I'm so glad that folks had fun hanging out for my birthday.
